Examinations
The Papers
For each of the units: Working with algebraic and graphical techniques, Modelling with calculus, Using and applying statistics and Using and applying decision mathematics there is one written examination lasting one and a half hours and worth 60 marks.
Examination questions are based in contexts using data from a Data Sheet that is made available to candidates up to 14 days prior to the examination. A clean copy of the Data Sheet is supplied for use during the examination.

The terminal unit Applying Mathematics is assessed by two written examination papers (no coursework portfolio):-
Paper I - Comprehension
The comprehension paper lasts for one hour and is worth 30 marks. Questions are based in contexts using information contained in pre-release material made available to candidates up to 14 days prior to the examination. A clean copy of this material is supplied for use during the examination.
Paper II
This paper lasts for one and a half hours and is worth 70 marks.

Statistical tables
Statistical tables and formulae are supplied in the examination for Using and applying statistics, but not for the other advanced units. Students are expected to know the formulae they need for these units.
Calculators
It is advised that students have use of a graphic calculator in the examinations.
