Free-Standing Mathematics Qualification

ICT

Free-standing Mathematics Qualifications will help students to appreciate when to use technology to help them with mathematics.

Students are encouraged to use computers as well as calculators when carrying out assignments.

Calculators
All units require students to use an appropriate calculator.

There are opportunities to use a graphic calculator in many of the units, particularly Using algebra, functions & graphs (Intermediate), Working with algebraic & graphical techniques and Modelling with calculus (Advanced).

Computers
Students are required to use spreadsheets when working on units in the areas of statistics and financial calculations.

Other units do not demand the use of computer software but the specifications show where the use of ICT, such as drawing software, is appropriate.
