The Scheme

Each Free-standing Mathematics Qualification is assessed by means of a coursework portfolio as well as a written examination. Each of these components contributes 50%.

Both the portfolio and examination assess the student's ability to use mathematics to solve problems in real contexts. The portfolio requirements are written in a general form so that the contexts used can be chosen to match the student's study programme, work or interests.

The final pass grades are A, B, C, D, E.
